Very long post inc:

PONIES DAY! I have been eagerly waiting for this day since... over a year ago!

The amount of prepping and painting that went into this cosplay took about 8 hours for our entire ponies group to finish. The results? Spectacular. So spectacular in fact, that it took another 5+ hours to finish shooting. I truly have to thank everyone for inviting me to doing ponies; it was the highlight of my entire con. If we do this again let's make sure not to do it with either an intense photoshooting session OR intense make-up.

Have I ever mentioned that Fluttershy is the most accurate personality that I have ever cosplayed before? Everything about Fluttershy just fits me incredibly well. From the soft spoken voice, her element of kindness, and of course her shyness. In fact, it's kinda a miracle that I even have the friends that I do, considering the amount of talking I do is so miniscule. I seriously LOVE everything about this character that I don't even feel like I'm cosplaying.

Design Notes

When I first designed the dress, I wanted something more of a cutesy and homey effect. It was actually hard translating Fluttershy into human form mainly because her style is quite plain when compared to the rest of the ponies (Diva, Runner, Party Girl, Cowgirl, Adorkable Nerd). I wanted to give her a cute appeal, but at the same time appeal to the animal lover side as well (seriously, tiered dresses/Long dresses for taking care of animals?).

So my fabric choices for the top was something for everyday wear (sew knit pink and yellow). Her cutie mark (that you can't see here) is heat-and-bonded on and then hand sewn to make sure there was no fray (originally it was meant to be embroidered on, but I ran out of time). The sleeves were made extra long for a cute effect, but the shirt fit perfectly well. Her "dress" is a two layered pink and yellow skirt made from a Calico Butterfly print and finished with hand-dyed pink and yellow ruffles. And to make it easier for someone who has to work with animals all day, there is a large slit in the dress (I have taken care of livestock before, and they get REALLY messy).

The wig was meant to be much longer than I had intended, but I underestimated how much hair I actually have. I however, used a technique that I wasn't familiar with when I curled the wig; hot water + curls + letting it dry for over a day. The plus side is that there is barely any hair spray used, the bad side is that it took too long to dry and I couldn't do a trial run.

Anywhooooo, I am really glad to have been able to be apart of this. I'm hoping that we have another chance to do this again, because no matte how chaotic Ponies day was, I just look back on it and smile.

-P.S. I am such a waifu.
-P.S.S. I took great care into not trampling any of the flowers.
